Highly purified recombinant thermostable DNA Polymerase
The Taq* DNA Polymerase manufactured by Fisher Biotec is a highly purified recombinant thermostable DNA Polymerase that has been isolated from E.coli carrying a vector encoding the Thermus aquaticus DNA polymerase gene. The enzyme possesses a highly processive 5′-3′ DNA polymerase activity with optimun activity achieved at 74OC. The enzyme exhibits high thermal stability in withstanding prolonged incubations at elevated temperatures (95OC).
The Taq* DNA Polymerase lacks 3′-5′ exonuclease activity. It is supplied with 25mM MgCl2 (1ml) and 10x PCR Reaction Buffer (1ml). This enzyme can undergo several freeze/thaw cycles without loss of activity. This allows prior preparation of complete amplification mixtures (minus target DNA) that can be stored at -20OC or -80OC in single tubes under paraffin oil providing convenient and consistent reactions and assisting in minimising problems due to cross contamination
The thermostable polymerases sold by Fisher Biotec are licensed under US Patents 4,683,202, 4,683,195, 188, 5,075,216 or their foreign counterparts owned by Hoffmann-La Roche Inc and F Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd (‘Roche’). The purchase of these products allows the researcher the freedom to perform PCR for the purposes of research and development. The limited licence transferred to the purchaser does not extend to the the practice of PCR for the purpose of diagnostic service or other commercial pursuit.
